City & Guilds Health and Safety NVQ

A health and safety NVQ is a vocational qualification where the individual has demonstrated their competence and knowledge in a workplace situation through the collection and submission of appropriate evidence. It is for this reason why a health and safety NVQ is only suitable and available for those who are already in a health and safety job role such as one where the person can influence the health and safety policy of their organisation. Previous health and safety training is also beneficial so that the person has an existing knowledge of health and safety factors and issues such as risk assessments and applicable legislation.

If the candidate cannot fulfil the requirements of a health and safety NVQ, alternative courses and qualifications like the NEBOSH General Certificate should be considered, which is a taught health and safety course rather than relying on the collation of evidence. Although many people are tempted by the benefits of an NVQ qualification, most notably the ability to complete it largely at their own pace and without the need to travel to a training venue, it needs to be remembered that it is not suitable for everyone and sometimes a more traditional, taught training course may not only be a necessity but also far more beneficial in terms of the knowledge which is gained through attending.

The City & Guilds health and safety NVQ qualifications are probably the most popular and most respected. City & Guilds are a long-established and recognised brand, with a great multitude of NVQs in a wide variety of subject areas, not just health and safety.

ATC Risk Management provide the popular City & Guilds Level 5 health and safety NVQ as well as offering the Level 3 too. Visit them to find out more information regarding an NVQ in health and safety, and to discuss enrolment and suitability criteria for an NVQ before parting with any money.
